Moodboard

From these pictures on the mood board, I can see that most of the settings used in indie-folk music videos are filmed outside in the forest.  The timing for this filming would be in the autumn or in the winter because you would get the autumnal feel through the brown leaves. These brown leaves can then link to the neutral costume colours of the bands.

I  can also see that the setting is in mostly rural areas. Locations that would suit this location would be places such as the beach or daisy fields.

Within the shots of the indie-folk videos , I can see that most include a light-blue sky in them. This could be mainly down to the fact that we want to feel happy when listening and watching the music video, so a blue sky is used.

From the mood board I can also see that in most videos we a performance from the band. This could be in the form of lip-syncing.

If we don't see any lip-sycning in the video, we still normally see a few shots of the instruments being played.

What have I learnt from this?

From analysing the mood board I have learnt a lot of things that I can take into the planning of my own music video. Most of the pictures we see on the mood board feature large fields and forests. Therefore, we need to think majorly about setting parts of our video in a forest with large autumnal trees or a large field. I can also see that the colours from the clothing and other things match the colours of the setting. The neutral colours from the different trees, are seen in the clothing, the major colour being brown. This means that in the costume design, we need to think heavily about including brown clothing.

Another thing we clearly see more than once on the mood board is the presence of the instruments being played. The most common instrument seen is the guitar. Therefore, we need to think about using this instrument of a similar one in our music video. We also need to think about including a performance of some sort because in nearly every picture, this is what we see.
