Digipak Font Ideas
The two fonts I have decided to choose between are: ITC Galliard and Original Garamond. The reason for choosing the following fonts is because I believe that these two fonts replicate an indie-folk genre title font. When analysing Mumford and Sons title font on their digipak, I noticed two things the serifs and the simplicity. The serifs indicated that the font was old-fashioned which could have then been linked with the indie-folk genre. The simplicity in the font would relate to the fact that the band doesn't hide behind anything, which could then show that their songs are personal to them, relating it back to the indie genre once again. The font I chose to go with in the end was Original Garamond.

After choosing my font, I decided to experiment with the colours. From this experiment, I have a choice from three different titles. The first colour I decided to make my title was a black font with a grey background. The first reason for doing this was to create a contrast, so that the title stands out to the audience and the first they see is the title name. The colour choice of black and white was also to create the simplistic effect of the title. When analysing Mumford & Sons digipak font, as the audience I felt the simplistic effect showed that they're not trying to hide anything, they are just being themselves. This then showed that their music was personal to them, the same as The Lumineers. Therefore, I chose this colouring for that effect. we also know from the lyrics of 'flowers in your hair' that for some reason a man didn't realise how much he loved someone until it was too late. However, we don't know why it was too late, therefore the black writing could connote to death and that the lady he loved died before he could tell her how he feels.

The idea of having the contrast between the background of the title and the font, inspired me to choose the next two colours of a black font and red background. The choice behind the black font was for the same reason as why I chose it in the previous title. However, in the song 'flowers in your hair', I get the feeling that the man who missed his opportunity would be feeling a lot of pain and anger. I feel the colour red connotes to this feeling, so adding it as the background of the title puts this effect across. Red also connotes to love, so the audience will know that the single is about love before purchasing and listening to the product.

I chose a white background to help contrast the writing, but to also give it the simplistic effect I have previously discussed.
