Font consistency

Having consistency throughout your digipak and magazine advert, allows the audience to get an understanding of the digipak as well as the band/artist beginning to get recognised. One way an artist or band does this is by using the same front image of the digipak on the digipak advertisement. As well as this choosing the same setup will also create recognition within the media.

However, the main feature that requires consistency throughout the different forms of media, is the font. Most people remember an artists name visually, therefore seeing the same font type when reading the advertisement will cause the audience to remember previously seeing the advertisement and digipak. It will also create attention to the product if people are walking by and notice the title, therefore noticing the digipak. This is because most of the audience will notice something again if they have already seen it once.

From looking at Michael Jackson's digipak and advertisement, I can see that the same font has been used throughout both the digipak and magazine advert. I believe this has been done because there is a message encoded in the font. Therefore, having the same font throughout all the products means that there is the same message encoded behind the product. This also makes the product more personal for the audience receiving it.

Released in, in 2009, we can see that the fonts were the same over all products released linked to that video. When looking at Adele's digipak and magazine advert we can see that the same. This is also mainly down to trying to attract the audience through consistency in all the products. Despite Adele's magazine advert having a different image to the digipak, the font is still the same. Therefore, just like the Michael Jackson digipak and magazine advert, the message encoded in the title is the same throughout all products related to that artist.

What have I learned?

Overall, I have learned that throughout the

years artists have always had the same

font for their digipaks and their magazine

adverts. I have also learned that in recent times artists may change the image on the products, but they will still include the same font. Therefore, when it comes to creating my digipak, having a consistency within my font choice will be vital. I have also learned that the artist has chosen these fonts to portray a message behind them album, therefore choosing the same font within all the product produced is key to getting the message across.
